Can Yakima Tracks Be Installed On a Toyota Truck With Tonneau Cover

Question:

Can this 60 Yakima track be installed on my 2016 toyota tundra sr5 crewmax on the existing truck bed rail caps. i currently have a Retrax Pro retractable cover and I want to add a rack system over the Retrax Pro. I believe there is plenty of room for the track I just dont know how to attach it. If this is possible what would the weight limit be using the track? Thanks,

In order to install the Yakima Tracks for Roof Racks like part # Y01135 on a truck bed with tonneau cover you'd simply need to install the rails directly on the outside of the rails for the cover ensuring there is sufficient space on the bed cap for the width of the track. It looks like you would have plenty of space for the 1-5/8" wide track. In regards to installation, you'll need to drill into the bed cap and then you can use rivets, bolts, or even screws to secure it, whichever you prefer. Unfortunately, drilling would be the only option to install a rack alongside the tonneau cover since there are no stake pockets. The weight capacity would come from the mounting feet and crossbars, not the tracks.
