Question:
I have a similar roof rack that was factory installed when I bought the car. The pads/supports have crumbled, and the only option is replacing the whole set since the manufacturer does not sell just the rubber pads. Whats the story with this one? are the pads sold separately if I need to replace them?

Mounting a roof rack onto a car with a naked roof usually requires three component groups: the fit kit with uniquely shaped rubber pads and hooks, the towers, and the crossbars. In this case, the rubber pads of the fit kit on your car needs replacing. Manufacturers don't sell the individual rubber pads for each fit kit because of the sheer amount of work that goes into making sure each pad and hook fits each specific vehicle and to keeping them in inventory. Also, if one of your rubber pads crumbles, I highly recommend getting a new fit kit anyways, since it means the other pieces are not far behind and a damaged fit kit can damage your car.
If you're looking for a new roof rack system, I have some recommendations. The Thule Fit Kit # TH145069 you're asking about fits 2017-2020 Hyundai Elantra sedans. They actually recently redesigned their fit kits and their towers # TH710501 in 2019 to this new Evo clamp style which is quicker and easier to install. They go with the Thule Wingbar Evo Crossbars # TH711400.
If you're looking for a roof rack for a 2011 Hyundai Elantra, I recommend the Rhino Rack roof system consisting of parts # RRVA126S-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK301. It uses Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126S-2 which are 49" long and have that nice aerodynamic design to reduce wind noise and drag. I like this system because of its durability and how long it lasts.
