factory 7-pole screwed up want to replace which one do i need 118242 says it wont work on this truck

If you have a light duty 1997 Ford F-250 then you can use # 118242. This harness will not work on Super Duty models. For a Super Duty you would use # 118243. I have included links to the installation details for both harnesses for you to view.
