How To Use Dexter EOH Brake Actuator with Factory Chevy Brake Controller
Updated 09/09/2020 | Published 09/05/2020 >
Question:
I have a 2017, Silverado 3500 Dually with a integrated brake controller and my trailer has a Dexter EOH braking system, when I connect to the trailer I get the trailer wiring error reported. I researched and thought that I read that the HBA-CAM would solve my issue so I ordered it and when it arrived in red letters across the packaging it stated that it only worked with HydraStar, my question is will it solve my problem and if not, what will? If the part I ordered isn’t comparable can I return it? GM told me that I could void warranty if I installed a third party controller. Thanks

The best option we can offer to ensure compatibility with an electric over hydraulic actuator is the Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180. This unit will bypass the factory brake controller without any worry of voiding its warranty. It features plug-in-play installation and will work perfectly with all electric over hydraulic actuators.
The hardwired adapters are more or less universal so even if it is not designed for said actuator, it should still work. The above option however gets ride of the guess work and it's plug-in-play.
