Question:

Can a 2012 chevy colorado 2WD/ 5 cylinder/ automatic transmission be flat towed behind a rv and if so what modifications need to be made? What is a driveline disconnect?

Expert Reply:

The 2012 Chevy Colorado RWD 5-cyl with auto transmission can be flat towed ONLY if a transmission lube pump is installed. We don't offer them, but you can find one by doing a quick Google search.

In addition to the lube pump, you'd also need a tow bar like the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, part # RM-522, safety cables like # RM-643, base plates like # 3122-1 for all models except for Z71 or Xtreme. For Z71, use # 3164-3. For a taillgiht wiring harness, use # RM-15267. You'll also need a supplemental braking system. I like the convenience of a portable system like the Roadmaster # RM-9400 Even Brake, which would also need the # RM-9332 outlet kit and the # RM-751442 stop light switch. You might also need a high/low adapter if the installed height of the base plates has a height difference of 3 inches +/- compared to the receiver on the motorhome.
