Question:
How about noise from the bag at California freeway speeds 75-80 mph, especially if it isnt completely full? Does it flap? Will that create damage?

Hello Mike.
The Cargo Smart # CS64FR rooftop bag is heavy duty and has two tie down straps coming down on each of four sides. You will significantly reduce wind noise and drag by cinching it down to the roof rails and cross bars as low as possible. This will naturally take up any slack in the bag side walls that might flap. Unlike other cargo bags that use D-rings to tighten straps, you will find the snap open buckles make unloading quick and easy!
This cargo bag will work best with roof rails and cross bars. Most Escapes come with factory roof rails already installed and if you let me know if you have them (or not) I can recommend cross bars for either way.
