5th Wheel Hitch With Underbed Base Rails for 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500 With 8 Foot Long Bed

Question:

I am looking for a fifth wheel hitch. I have a under bed flip ball Bulldog gooseneck hitch that is not installed yet, but I do want a clean bed when fifth wheel hitch is out, so no rails. I have a 2008 Silverado LTZ 3500HD LMM duramax 4X4 crew cab srw 8foot bed. What is my maximum towing weight?

There are a couple of options to add a 5th wheel hitch that mounts to underbed base rails on your 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500 long bed, which I'll go over for you. In regards to towing capacity, you will want to verify this yourself in your owner's manual, but according to the online manual an '08 Silverado 3500 Crew Cab 4WD long bed with single rear wheels has a maximum towing capacity of 9,300 lbs if you have a 3.73 axle ratio or 11,800 lbs if you have a 4.10 axle ratio.

In regards to the hitch with underbed rails you need the following:

- B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3500-5W with Custom Underbed Installation Kit # BWGNRK1067-5W

The Companion is widely considered to be the best 5th wheel hitch in the industry due to its premium construction and massive jaws that envelop your king pin for a much quieter ride than a hitch with lesser jaws. Additionally, the underbed kit actually doubles as a gooseneck hitch, which is also considered to be an industry leader in quality.

Then for a 5th wheel/gooseneck wiring harness for your Silverado you will need the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness # C56000.
