Question:
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 4X4 DRW Quad Cab 6.7Cummins With the factory trailer hitch. I was wondering if the Curt C15704 Trailer hitch will fit in place of the factory trailer hitch? The foot note said will not fit trucks with factory hitches. I would like to remove the factory hitch and install this one if it will fit.

Expert Reply:
The OEM hitch on your Ram truck is welded to a cross member located behind the rear bumper. The cross member is an integral part of the vehicle structure and should not be removed, according to Curt.
There are other hitches available that would install below the OEM hitch, as long as the truck has the OEM bumper. The # C15704 you mentioned will not fit in place of or with the factory hitch, but you can use the Curt # C15409. This hitch will fit below the factory hitch and has a 2 inch receiver opening.
