Question:

The dealer I contacted about this hitch installation told me that someone at DRAW TITE said the blind spot monitors was located in the VW tail lights. This is incorrect. Does the hitch have the correct hardware for reinstallation of the blind spot monitors. some of the comments on your website say they have had to ty wrap the sensors back because the hardware in the installation kit is not correct. 2019 VW Golf R

I've attached photos of an older Draw-tite hitch where it shows photos of where the blindspot monitors are removed during the installation of this hitch. When we haven't physically installed this here in our shop, I do usually tend to trust the manufacturer instructions, but it's always possible that the instructions may be different on this year and model.

I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite and he seemed to think that the instructions were accurate for installation on a 2019 VW Golf R model. The Draw-Tite hitch is no longer available.

With all of that said, I would recommend using the Eco-Hitch # 306-X7332 because the 2" receiver allows you a much larger variety of hitch mounted accessories. This will be helpful when trying to carry a bike rack or cargo box using the hitch and would be the best solution to add a hitch to your 2019 VW Golf R.

I've also linked the instructions of this Eco-Hitch for you to have a look at, and will note that it does not mention the removal of any blind spot monitors.
