Does Curt Spectrum have Manual Override Feature
Updated 08/13/2020 | Published 08/12/2020 >
Question:
For the most part I love this controller for all the obvious reasons... I pull a travel trailer at about 7,000lbs and a hydraulic tilt dump trailer at about 15,000lbs. Got the most part the controller does great with either trailer. My problem is the control cant be adjusted or the manual override used while your braking. Braking situations change constantly. Going down hills or wet or gravel roads. I find that I need to be able to adjust and in some cases use the manual override while Im braking. This controller does not allow me to do that. For that reason alone makes this controller a little scary. Am I doing something wrong? Its dangerous to not be able to adjust or use the manual override while in a braking situation.

The Curt Spectrum # C51170 does have a manual override that maybe you weren't familiar with. If you press and hold the knob the manual override feature is active. When you press the button the brakes will begin to apply similar to a time delayed brake controller and the braking power will ramp up.
