How Much Space is Needed Behind UWS A-Frame Trailer Toolbox to Open Lid

Published 08/11/2020

Question:

Id like to mount this box against the front wall of a travel trailer. It appears that the lid extends rearward beyond the back wall of the box as the lid is opened. I assume that the lid would crash into the front wall of the trailer if the box was mounted too close. How much space would be required to allow the lid to open fully without hitting the trailer? Also what is the inside vertical dimension - in other words whats the tallest item I could put in this box? Thanks!

The 4.1 cubic foot UWS A-Frame Trailer Toolbox # UWS01064 has a lid which measures 1 inch, and since the lid simply opens 90 degrees, you will only need a little more than an inch of space to open the lid to ensure it does not come into contact with your trailer. When mounting it you can test it out at various spots to ensure there is zero contact but the required space behind the toolbox is minimal.

In regards to height, you will be able to store an item that is up to 21 inches tall in the UWS A-Frame Trailer Toolbox # UWS01064.
