Surge Brake Actuator Replacement for my 2012 Jayco 1007

Question:
Hello there, I have a 2012 Jayco 1007 Jay Series tent trailer. I’m having problems with the brake on one side right binding while it’s in motion. Noticed it during my last trip when I pulled over and I could barely touch the rim it was that hot. I’m thinking of just replacing the whole brake actuator surge brakes for piece of mind. What model would you suggest for a replacement? Thank you

I like the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T43397007K and think it will do a great job for you. I would however check the brake assemblies first. It sounds as if one is hanging or the brake line is not letting the brake fluid to back out and release the pressure. In most cases when a single side is binding it is at that side. If it was the actuator I would think that it would effect both sides evenly.
To test this apply pressure to the front of the actuator with a board and the safety chains wrapped around it to cycle the actuator check that the pressure is released. You may find that the pressure releases but the brake assemblies need to be lubricated. If the pressure does not release off of the assembly I would check the brake line sometimes the inner lining can become compromised and act like a check valve flap that doesn't let the pressure out.
