Question:
Gday, On my 98 Landrover Discovery 1 the 7 pin harness was hard-wired in when I purchased it. I installed a brake controller and ran and auxillary power cable to charge a small battery on the trailer for the break-away system. At one point the trailer lights all worked reasonably well but when the indicators, running lights, and brake lights were all on, the brake lights were super dim. Then I tried improving the grounds across the whole trailer and also exploring sources in the truck. After testing the trailer on multiple vehicles Im certain its wiring is sound. After testing the truck on multiple trailers, Im certain its wiring is buggered. Now the running lights blink with the indicators. All the brightnesses seem fine. I even changed over the harness to another to see if this helped and it did not. Im not sure whats going on. Any feedback would be most welcome.

We don't have any custom wiring harnesses for your 1998 Land Rover Discovery 1. It sounds like you have a bleed over from one of your hardwired circuits, so I recommend tracing the circuits for each function using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 and checking them one at a time for proper function behind the connector.
I've attached a photo to show you the function locations to assist.
