Question:
Why do some kits, like the Firestone F2582, say that they are not compatible with a bed mount hitch? What makes them compatible or not?
asked by: David A
Expert Reply:
Air bag kits attach to to the truck's frame in roughly the same area as in-bed hitches like gooseneck and fifth wheel rail kits which is why there can sometimes be interference. So the Firestone kit part # F2582 that you referenced is not compatible due to it's bracket design but we do have the Air Lift LoadLifter kit part # AL88385 which is compatible with in-bed hitches.
The compatible kits basically have a bracket design that won't interfere with the rail kits.
