Is a Bike Frame Adapter Bar Needed to Carry E-Bike
Updated 07/13/2020 | Published 07/09/2020 >
Question:
We need a bike bar adapter before we purchase a step through ebike. Most of the bike bars I have seen are rated for up to 50 lbs, but the ebikes are 60 to 70 lbs. Which bar do you recommend need the narrower tube so we can fit it into our bike rack. Thanks.

The weight capacity of bike frame adapter bars like part # UB01 are for when used with a hanging bike rack. So in your situation that wouldn't matter since e-bike racks are platform bike racks (since hanging racks don't have the weight capacity) and they aren't used to carry the weight of the heavier e-bike.
Now your best bike rack solution is one that was designed for carrying the alternative frame styles of the e-bike racks like the Thule Easy Fold XT part # TH903202 which has a clamp that can pivot and turn as needed to grab the bike frame. This rack has a ramp built into it to help make loading and unloading the heavier bikes easier. I also attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.
