Recommended Large Capacity Roof Mounted Cargo Bag for Roof Rack on 2018 Honda CR-V

Question:

Just purchased the Yakima rack system for naked roof from you with the Jet Star bars 50in. Interested in high quality Cargo Bag that will work with already have a box this system on my CR-V. Will this one do the trick? What about the comparable Rightline bag? Priority is stable attachment, then waterproof, then aerodynamics/sound I would appreciate your suggestion Thanks!

Either the Rightline # RL100S20 or the CargoSmart # CS64FR roof mounted cargo bag would be an excellent choice. Both have a 15 cubic foot capacity and are protected by a 1 year warranty.

You can't go wrong either way, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the CargoSmart model, as the construction seems just a little bit more heavy and the straps feel a bit more sturdy. Aerodynamic wise, I believe they're about equal.

As with any roof bag, the vulnerable point of the bag is the zipper. Even though the storm flaps work really well on both bags, if you're driving through a heavy downpour for an extended length of time, water could still find its way in. Even though the bags are waterproof, I'd be sure to wrap anything that can't get wet securely in plastic before loading it into the bag.

A roof protection pad like the Rightline # RL100650 is also a good idea to prevent the bag from scooting around and to protect your roof from scratches.
