Replacement RV AC Unit Recommendation for Fleetwood Terra 34B Motorhome
Updated 07/08/2020 | Published 07/07/2020 >
Question:
We had our rear ac go out on our motorhome and I am going to replace both units now so we do not have any issues in the future. I believe we have two dometic 13500btu up there now I am pretty sure it is whatever the unit came with. Its been raining solid since yesterday afternoon so I havent had a chance to get up there to check exact model numbers. I was hoping to get started on a solution as soon as possible. Apologies for not having exact model numbers at this time. The units are ducted together in the rig and both are on a single stat which controls heat and ac. We have a 30 amp set up and the stat has a shed feature for the ac which I learned about last summer while plugged into a spot that I believe had an insufficient power supply. With that said, Is there a more effecient unit that I can install to help cool the rig better while keeping the shed feature? I like that it will control itself with out throwing breakers and or having to shut down the ac before turning on the microwave or whatever else is possibly on. We have had four different campers/rvs and are very familiar with the whole turning things off before running the ac. LOL. Any direction would be greatly appreciated I am handy enough that if I had to fish wiring to a new stat I could. I am working on a three week timeframe so I may just have to replace the units like for like. Thanks

The best and easiest option would be the Furrion Chill RV AC Unit part # FR82PV which was designed to fit in place of a Dometic setup like you have now which gives you an easy install that will allow you to utilize your current wiring and thermostats.
Your 30 amp power sources would easily work with these as well. We've found that the Furrion units are a bit quieter than most other systems and blow colder air so we recommend them highly.
