Best Trailer Brake Controller for 2020 Chevy Traverse

Question:

2020 Chevrolet Traverse 3LT. Wiring and hitch installed by dealer. I need a brake controller and am looking at the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite OR the Tekonsha Prodigy P3. What do I need in addition to these controllers in order to do a proper install? I am planning to buy a 6x12 enclosed ramp trailer for moving musical instruments and my Kubota tractor. My needs should be pretty simple. In addition to the two controllers I listed, what would be your recommendation for my needs and vehicle? Finally, do you offer a military discount? I am active duty USMC. Thank you.

First, thank you for your service! Unfortunately we don't offer a discount simply because we try to give all of our customers the lowest possible price at any given time.

For your 2020 Chevy Traverse I recommend the RedArc Tow Pro Elite # RED44FR because it is such a clean look and has a factory feel. The wiring you will need is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. This kit can also be used with the Prodigy P3 # 90195 you referenced if you prefer the LCD screen over the LED lights for settings. There is only a hardwire option for a brake controller like this even if you have the factory 7-way so if you have a 7-way you can use # 5506 which is the brake controller wiring portion of the # ETBC7 kit. I've attached videos to assist with the installation and have also attached a help article.

The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional # C51180 is the only brake controller that doesn't require that that hardwiring if you already have the 7-way.
