Bought gearbox #lc379161 for kwikee series step 28 my older motor wont work with this do I also need to purchase motor lc379147. Thank you

You are correct, the Lippert Components Kwikee Step Gear/Linkage B part # LC379161 is not compatible with the old motor on your 28 series steps, so you will need to upgrade to the Kwikee Motor for New IMGL Step part # LC379147.
