Flip Up Gooseneck Ball Compatibility with Demco Recon Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:
I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado 3500 with a flip up ball. Looking to the recon 21k but don’t know if the unit will fit over the ball plate and will I be able to use the safety chains holders?

The Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Single Jaw - 21,000 lbs # DM8550045 doesn't require the use of safety chains because it physically attaches to the hitch ball to create 5th wheel hitch and 5th wheel pin boxes don't have safety chains. The presence of your u-bolt chain loops won't be an issue and if they are accessible and you desire chains you can wrap safety chains or safety cables around the upright supports of the Recon base.
