Question:
Is there a way to covert a 4 pin connector to a 7 pin on a 2020 Kia Telluride. If so what do I need for parts and how difficult is it ? Thank you

The Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 will allow you to add a 7-Way and 4-Flat trailer connector to your existing 4-way flat connector. This kit includes everything you need to install a brake controller and have an electric brake signal and 12V power wire signal functioning, along with the turn, tail, and stoplight signals you already have, at the rear of your vehicle. This is currently the only option to have a functioning 7-Way on your Telluride.
This kit does require a bit more to install than a plug-and-play wiring kit. You will need to run the wires for the brake controller signal and the 12V signal along the underside of your vehicle to attach to the brake controller and battery, respectively.
If you just need the 7-Way for access to a 12V power wire, routing the wire along the vehicle is probably the most difficult part.
If you also need to install a brake controller, then you will need to run the wires through the firewall between the cab and the engine compartment. Sometimes there is a factory hole with a grommet available to run the wires through, but if not you will need to drill an access hole and use a push grommet like # SWC8057 in order to run the wires.
I have attached an installation video showing the # ETBC7 kit being installed on a 2012 Toyota Highlander. This won't necessarily be an exact example of your installation, but it will give you a great idea of what the installation entails. This video also covers the final steps needed to install a brake controller. The controller featured in the video is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885.
I have also linked a help article with some more tips on running power wires under your vehicle. As always, our etrailer team is here to help you with installation questions you may have along the way.
