Can you use a map program while running the Curt Echo?

As long as your phone's GPS mapping can work in the background, you can still operate the Curt Echo # C51180. In reality, the Echo works by sensing the braking of the vehicle and applies your trailer brakes, so even if the app isn't open, the brakes are still going to work. It is recommended that you leave the app open and the phone on though in the event that you would need to manually engage the trailer brakes. But you can flip back and forth to check the map for a short time if needs be.
You'd probably have the best results by making sure that your GPS announces each turn as you come to it to avoid needing to look at the map too much when you're towing.
