Question:

Hello, I am interested in this tow hitch that has a max weight of 3,500 lbs GTW of 5,000 Weight-distributed GTW. The owner's manual for the 2019 Odyssey has a max weight of 3,000 lbs for the EX-L version that I own others are 3,500. I am guessing the manual is assuming a class 2 hitch installed, but how is etrailer claiming 3,500 GTW? I am wanting to tow a boat and trailer with total package weight of roughly 4,300 lbs. Thanks.

The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98855 is an excellent option for a 2019 Honda Odyssey. It has a 3,500 lb weigh capacity or 5,000 lbs when used with a weight distribution system. This may be higher than the figures listed in your owner's manual as the vehicle and hitch are tested separately. That said, you'd need to abide by the lowest rated component which is the case for this vehicle. So your owner's manual says 3,000, that will be your limit.

In order to complete your towing setup you'll also need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118781 and etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900.
