Is Thule Hullavator Kayak Carrier Compatible with OEM Roof Rack on a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist with Tie-Downs - Side Loading Item # TH898 I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I am not clear on whether I would need any extra parts or can mount the Hullavator on the existing, original cross bars

To use the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier # TH898 on your 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee you're going to need to upgrade your roof rack system. The Hullavator requires that the crossbars stick out past the roof rack legs by at least 4" so that the arms won't come in contact with the vehicle when they are lowered. Since your OEM crossbars end in the feet they won't be long enough.
For upgrading your roof rack system I highly recommend the Yakima JetStream system which consists of the 50" crossbars, # Y00425 and the TimberLine Towers # Y33TR.
The beauty of the JetStream bars is that they have a T-Slot that extends the full length of the bar on the under side so you are able to adjust them to fit this application quite easily. Attached are review videos of both the Hullavator and the JetStream system for you to check out.
