Question:

Im looking for a truck bed mount bike rack. We have a 2019 Ram 2500 with RamBox. Most of the fork mounts have weight limits 45lb and below. But what of bikes that are 50-55lbs? What do you suggest?

An over the tailgate solution like the Softride # SR26457 Shuttle Pad could be a good solution for you. It's relatively inexpensive, has a 6 bike capacity, and wouldn't require removing the front wheels, which is very convenient. The padded, felt-lined carrier protects both the bikes and the truck from being scratched. If you decided to go that route, you'll want to measure the available width of your tailgate. A solution like this is your best bet because options that clamp to the bed side wouldn't be compatible with the Ramboxes.

Thule offers a lockable solution that also mounts to the tailgate, the Insta-Gater, part # TH93VR. This solution is certainly more expensive, but the bike can be locked to the rack and if the tailgate is lockable, the carrier is secured to the tuck by virtue of the tailgate being locked.

Personally, I'd use the Shuttle Pad and a cable like # 72DPF secured with a padlock such as # ML312D.
