Question:
I was just wondering what would keep someone from just unplugging the Curt Echo and stealing it when you stopped for lunch on the road? Do people unhook it every time they stop? Thank you.

The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 due to its design does not have any security features so you are correct in that if some wanted it they could just come right up, unplug it and be off. I have personally not heard of this happening as most thieves are not going to know what the unit is or does but I can say that others who have also been concerned simply take it out and put it in the vehicle each time they need to go somewhere out of sight from the rig.
Please note, you WON'T have to go through the setup procedure each time you plug and unplug the unit. If you like, we do have a similar option which mounts on the trailer therefore won't have to worry about theft, the Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller part # 3430001.
