What is the proper way to install the rubber bushing into the leaf springs

When installing rubber or nylon bushings like the Dexter # K71-372-00 in your leaf springs or equalizers, you'll want to use a block of wood or something that will protect the bushing, while hitting it with a hammer until it seats into the spring. It's not a terribly complicated process but you do need to take care not to damage the bushing during installation.
The removal process can be done in the same manner, only using something like a socket to push the bushing out of the spring or equalizer.
