Will Curt Echo Brake Controller Work with Iphone 6 or UConnect System on 2020 Ram 1500

Question:

Will the brake controller work with iphone 6? Im having trouble finding a new iphone 8 locally due to the virus situation in our area. New iphone 8s are currently unavailable from Amazon. I just purchased a 2020 Ram 1500. It did not come with the factory brake controller installed. And the dealer wants $528.00 dollars to install the controls! My vehicle has bluetooth capabilities with the computer software on board. Will this connect to the brake controller instead of using an iphone? Ive purchased several products from etrailer in the past and very satisfied with product quality. Thanks!

The good news is that the Curt Echo will work with any iPhone that has iOS 5.0 or above, which your iPhone 6 does have (factory iOS 8.0), so you will have no problem using the two together as long as there's a functioning 7-way on the truck. I definitely recommend using a cellphone mount, like # RVS-CEL-M1 to keep your iPhone secured and within reach.

Although your 2020 Ram 1500 is now equipped with an Android-Based UConnect 5 System, in order for the Echo to work, you must be able to download the Echo Smart Control mobile app - not available on the UConnect app store, so you would not be able to control the Echo this way.

On the bright side, the Echo Smart Control app will continue running in the background of your iPhone 6 even if you get a call or switch between apps, and it will not interfere with your Ram's hands-free UConnect 5 multimedia system.
