Compatiblility of Blue Ox Patriot Brake System With 2006 Jeep Liberty

Published 04/09/2020

Question:

We just purchased a 2006 Jeep Liberty to tow behind our motor home. The Jeep is equipped with a Roadmaster base plate and was towed before. My buddy has an extra Blue Ox Patriot BRK2012 he wants to give me. Will this unit work on our Jeep? Thanks

I've confirmed with Blue Ox that the # BRK2012 Patriot II supplemental braking system is indeed comaptible with your 2006 Jeep Liberty.

If you aren't already equipped with them, you'll need some additional items to complete your flat towing system. For a tow bar, I'd recommend the Falcon All Terrain tow bar, part # RM-522. The Falcon features non binding, self centering arms, which allow you to hook up to the motorhome even if the terrain isn't completely level or the tow vehicle isn't perfectly lined up to the motorhome. You'll also need safety cables like # RM-643. To wire the vehicle so the taillights work along with those of the motorhome, I'd recommend a diode system like # RM-15267 if your vehicle isn't already so equipped. You might also need a high/low adapter if the height difference between your base plates and the receiver on the motor home is greater than 3 inches. I'll link you to our selection of high/low adapters, in case you should need one. I've also linked to an install video and some help articles for you.
