Question:
Is there any way to convert a Thule T2 XT PRO from 2 inch shank to a 1 1/4 inch class II to class I? I have the larger one, but I down sized to a honda civic hatchback, and want to know if I can adapt the rack for a new vehicle. Or is there a class II receiver available for the 2017 Honda Civic hatchback? Obviously, Im know I cant tow anything with it. Im just looking for the cheapest option to haul a couple bicycles. Thanks

In order to use the Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 Bike Platform Rack part # TH83JV which has a 2" shank with a 1-1/4" receiver tube you will will need an adapter, the Brophy Hitch Adapter part # HT5R. That said, the use of a hitch adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50% so you will need to keep this in mind.
The trailer hitch I recommend using for a 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11463 because it offers the easiest installation. The Curt hitch is only class I rated and there is not a class II rated hitch for the Honda Civic so you will be limited to a max of two bikes.
The only other option would be to use the T2 Pro XTR made for 1-1/4" hitches, part # TH23JV.
