Expert Reply:
In order to separate two awning head covers such as the Solera Awning Plain Drive Head Front Cover part # LC289560 and the Solera Awning Plain Drive Head Back Cover part # LC289561 you'll need to remove the screws which are accessed from the back cover. In order to gain access to the screws you will need to extend the awning head out away from the trailer.
I checked with Lippert but they don't have an step by step write-ups on this unfortunately.
