after my husband hooked up the curt C84VV, his truck does not start. if he disconnects it, the truck starts. he has a Cadillac escalade 2014

Thanks so much for the purchase from us of the Curt Discovery Trailer Brake Controller # C84VV for your 2014 Cadillac Escalade, and I'm sorry to hear of this issue you are having. This controller, which you'd use with Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers # C51515 assuming the Escalade had a factory 7-way already, should not have anything to do with the vehicle starting or not, which means there was a mistake somewhere along the way with the wiring process.
I have added a link to a video showing a brake controller being installed on an Escalade (it's an '09 but the same generation) so you can see where the wires are under the vehicle and exactly how they should be wired. I added a photo pointing out where the wires are, and they should have been labeled as to what their functions are. It is likely that the wrong wires were used, so I recommend watching this video as well as checking out the linked help articles on brake controllers to give you the best idea of where things may have gone wrong.
