Question:

I recently purchased the Harbor Freight Haul-Master 1720lb capacity trailer and was hoping to upgrade the tires to something more capable of highway speeds 70mph. The current tires are 5.30-12in with 5 Lug rim with a load rating C. I also would prefer a taller tire just to limit some of the wear on the bearings. I read a few recommendations on your site for Harbor Frieghts 1000lb trailer, where it was recommended to upgrade the hub. Is this necessary for the 1720lb trailer?

It sounds like you have 5.30-12 tires on a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern wheel on the Harbor Freight Haul-master. They are more than likely bias trailer tires as well. I recommend to use the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Bias Trailer Tire w/ 12" Silver Mod Wheel part # TA26RR with a 81 MPH speed rating. This tire and wheel combo will work well on your Harbor Freight trailer and give you the speed rating you desire. There is not a suitable taller tire available to replace the 5.30-12 tires but the weight capacity of each tire is 1,050 lbs at 80 psi so you won't need to worry about stress on the bearings. You should not need to upgrade the hub if your bolt pattern on your current wheel is 5 on 4-1/2. I have attached a helpful article explaining how to measure for the bolt pattern.

If you already have the wheels and just want to upgrade the tires, you need part # TT53012C.
