Troubleshooting Trailer Turn Signals and Reverse Circuits on 2013 Ford F350

Updated 03/19/2020 | Published 03/17/2020

Question:

I have a 2013 Ford F350 Super duty and at the trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle I get no power at the pins when I put on the right and left signals ,reverse lamps, and when I push the brakes but I get power when I apply the trailer brake controller I get power at the 12 volt pin when I turn the key on and when I turn the lights on. I have checked the fuses and relays and they seem to be fine. The lights and signals all work What could be the problem?

If the fuses aren't blown, there could be some corrosion in the trailer connector on the truck preventing the signal from getting through. If you can see green or white corrosion on the pins, there's a chance the corrosion has spread to the interior of the connector and damaging it. Try testing the wires feeding the connector itself to ensure that power is reaching the connector when the turn signals are activated, which would confirm or rule out the connector as being the problem. If power is reaching but not leaving the connector, you'll wan to replace it with something like # C55774. If you have no power reaching the connector and the fuses are fine, then there is a wiring problem somewhere between the distribution box and the trailer connector. You can trace that tow package wiring harness as far as you can toward the front of the vehicle and look for damage to the harness.

I'll link you to some trailer wiring troubleshooting articles that you might find helpful.
