Solar Charging for my 12 Volt Winch Battery

Question:

Hi. I have a 12 volt winch and battery mounted on a trailer. The battery is 685 cold cranking amps. I use the winch sparingly and wish to mount a solar charging unit. Will this system work for my application? Do I need a battery maintaining unit as well and if so can you recommend one? Thanks

Yes the Go Power Eco Solar Charging System part # 34273836 that you referenced can be used to charge and maintain your 12 Volt battery on your trailer used for a winch. As you stated you use it sparingly and that is the key. If your were to use it regularly you would need a different type of set up like the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger part # 331-BCDC1225D. This is designed to charge that battery back up using your vehicles alternator rather than relying on solar power.
