When you’re covering serious miles behind the motorhome, you want gear that feels solid every time you hitch up. This Blue Ox base plate kit uses durable steel construction and a sturdy design that spreads towing force evenly across the chassis to help prevent stress on the suspension. The fixed draw bars form a secure link to your tow bar so you can count on it pulling strong mile after mile without worrying about looseness or flex.
Nobody wants a bulky bracket setup hanging off the front when they’re not towing. With this kit’s hidden reinforcements, only the attachment tabs are visible once everything’s bolted up. It keeps your vehicle’s front end tidy and low-profile, so you maintain a clean look between trips without losing easy access to your connection points.
If you like tackling projects yourself, this one’s approachable. The base plate bolts directly to the chassis using the included mounting hardware—no welding required. The straightforward layout makes alignment clear and helps DIY installers finish the job with confidence using only basic tools.
Already invested in towing gear? You can make it all work together. This base plate pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a reliable fit, and it’s adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately) or Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). That means you can build your flat towing system around what you already have instead of starting from scratch.
Getting your rig level is easier when you know your measurements. This base plate has a 24" distance between brackets and a bracket height of 17-1/2", giving you the exact numbers you need to match up your tow bar height and plan a safe, balanced connection every time you hook up.

Glad the install went smoothly, Grant! Even with those weird handle nuts (which I agree are kind of odd). What's the first trip you have planned? And I will let Alex know what you said as well! : )

it still looks nice and working as it should. i made it also double as a base to bolt up my winch. the bonus thing is when i need to tow it i can undo 4 bolts and take my winch off. i think you guys at e-trailer should consider making something like this as a option. i have pictures of it installed but how do i send them to you?

Thanks for your review, Richard! It sounds like this was a fairly involved installation, but we're glad to hear everything came together successfully in the end. We appreciate you sharing the details of your process, especially the tips about the tight frame rail clearance and drilling challenges, as those insights may help other RV owners tackling the same project. Thanks for including the photo as well. Your finished installation looks great! Now that it's installed and you're moving on to the diode kit and brake away switch, what adventure are you looking forward to most this summer in your RV?
