Should All Trailer Leaf Springs be Replaced at the Same Time

Question:

I have an 08 forest river toy hauler 40 ft 3 axle it seems to lean to one side like I have a weak spring somewhere should I replace all springs and what do you suggest as a replacement?

When you are replacing a leaf spring you definitely want to replace all of the leaf springs on your trailer. The reason for that is leaf springs wear down over time and by replacing them at the same time ensures you will have even support on both sides of your trailer without any sag or lean.

In regards to the correct replacements, that is going to depend on whether or not you have double-eye springs or slipper springs, your trailer's axle rating and most importantly, a number of measurements.

The best way to determine if a double-eye spring will fit is by measuring the length from the center of the spring eye to the center of the other eye, and for a slipper spring you measure from the center of the spring eye to the end of the spring (the best way to get an accurate length of a leaf spring is with the trailer up on jacks with the axle hanging). You also need to know the width of your slipper spring.

For example, the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles # e94SR measures 26 inches from spring eye to spring eye and is for 6,000 lb axles.
