According to the owner's manual I looked up, yes, you can flat tow a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Latitude, so long as it is a 4-wheel drive model with a 2-speed transfer case (which means you'll have a Neutral position in the power transfer unit). There are a number of parts you'll need in order to do this, and I'll list the best ones for your Jeep Cherokee:
- Base Plate Kit: Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit # DM9519307
- Tow Bar: Commander II Non-Binding Tow Bar # DM9511012
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Supplemental Braking System: Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251
OR
- For motorhome with air brakes: Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motorhomes with Air Brakes # SM99243
The Demco Tabless Base Plates are great because they have removable arms which means your Cherokee is going to keep its clean look when you aren't flat towing. The Commander tow bar is a great option because it has long arms which make it easier to maneuver when towing, along with integrated safety cables so you won't have to purchase them separately, saving you an additional expense.
The Flexo-Coil wiring kit is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep your Jeep's electrical system safe, and both the Stay-IN-Play DUO and Air Force One are strongly recommended because they are one-time installs which will never require any type of removal or reactivation, and give you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. This results in much smoother braking than most systems which send out a pre-set amount of braking power and thus are more rigid.
You may also need a high-low adapter in order to keep your 2017 Jeep Cherokee level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter, as well as a link to our selection of adapters. Additionally, I have added links to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
