Troubleshooting New Trailer Brakes that Seem Weak Even After Adjusting Them

Thank you for responding. I do have 10ga wires on the left side coming from the front of the trailer but the transfer to the right side is smaller probably 16ga and old and brittle looking. I will replace them with heavier new wire per your suggestion. Thanks again

Sounds like the issue could be related to the wiring of the brake assemblies. Make sure you are using 10 gauge wire for the power and ground wires on this circuit to ensure the assemblies can activate like they need to. Normally the weak issue you described after installing new trailer brakes is due to them not being adjusted properly but it sounds like you did that properly. We recommend tightening the assemblies to the point there is a light drag you can hear/feel as you turn them by hand.
