How To Raise Bike Rack Up To Prevent It From Scraping The Ground
Published 02/12/2020 >
Question:
I have a tow hitch bicycle rack that scrapes the ground when I am going up a steep incline. I was wondering if you had any solutions that didn’t include the addiction of a ball mount. I think the length would end up scraping.

The Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers part # D210 is the best option to raise the bike rack so it stops scraping the ground. The ball mount portion may scrape the ground a bit but the bike rack won't scrape. The other dual hitch mounts have more of a drop which would eliminate the ground clearance even more so this is your best option. Please keep in mind the ball mount does cut the tongue weight of your hitch in half since it is an adapter. Also please keep in mind the hitch needs to be a 2" hitch and the bike rack must fit a 2" hitch for this adapter to be compatible.
