Question:

The 2018 RX350 owners manual states that when towing trailers over 2k gross weight a sway control device with sufficient capacity is required. What sway control device is sufficient for the RX350s 3500 lb towing capacity that is compatible with this hitch?

I Googled the owner's manual for a 2018 Lexus RX 350 and it said the maximum towing capacity was 3,500 lbs, and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13272 has a 4,000 lb towing capacity so you will not have any problems using this hitch for towing less than the 3,000 lbs you mentioned. That said, we do recommend verifying all towing capacity information with vehicle manufacturers as they have the final say on these matters.

Since you need sway control, the best option is a weight distribution system with sway control, and for your 2018 Lexus RX350 that has a 3,500 lb towing capacity, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System with 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37040ET or, for a more budget-friendly option, the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0450. The difference is the Equal-i-zer gives you the absolute best in sway control so you are going to have the smoothest ride possible even when encountering crosswinds or passing a semi on the highway, but at a more premium price. The Fastway is also effective though does have less total sway control than the Equal-i-zer, which is why it is a lesser price. The Fastway is a good option for a small trailer, though I always err on the side of having the most control possible when towing, which is why if it were me I'd go with the Equal-i-zer.
