Bike Rack Recommendations For 2 Bikes For a 2008 Jeep Liberty

We have everything that you will need to add a bike rack to your 2008 Jeep Liberty. The first decision that you will need to make is if you want a trunk mounted bike rack or a hitch mounted bike rack.

A trunk mounted bike rack like the Thule OutWay 2 Bike Rack, # TH45JV, will attach to your vehicle using only 2 retractable cables that attach to the top and bottom edges of your rear hatch and it has rubber pads that sit on your rear hatch to support the rack. I have also attached a link to all of the trunk mounted bike racks that we carry for your Liberty.

I would strongly recommend adding a trailer hitch to your vehicle and using a hitch mounted bike rack. The advantages to a hitch mounted bike rack are that there will be no contact between the bike rack and your vehicle, limiting potential damage to your vehicle, and if you choose a tilting or swinging rack, then you will have full access to your rear cargo area without having to remove the bike rack each time.

For a trailer hitch, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch, # 75578. I have attached the installation instructions as well as a video of our technician installing this hitch on a Liberty for you to review.

For a hitch mounted bike rack, I would recommend either the Swagman Titan 2 Bike Rack, # S63400, or the Thule Helium 2 Bike Rack, # TH9042PRO. Both bike racks have many useful features such as anti-sway cradles to keep your bikes from moving on the bike rack and the tilting design that will give you full access to the rear of your vehicle. The Thule Helium has a high quality and light weight design whereas the Titan will offer many of the same features at a more economical price.

If you plan on carrying any women's or children's bikes, then I would recommend picking up the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, # TH982XT. Some small or angled bike frames can be difficult to mount on bike racks and the adapter bar will allow you to mount the bikes level and safely.
