Chains For 205/55-16 Tires On 2011 Subaru Impreza

Question:
I have 205/55 16 inch tires. I see the glacier cable snow chains you recommend. My car is AWD. Do these go on front or rear? CHP is requiring I carry them. Also one review spoke of a special traction device? What is that? Subaru Impreza 2011 Thanks.

Expert Reply:
Typically snow chains would go on the drive wheels of the vehicle. If your vehicle were front wheel drive then they would go on the front vice versa for rear wheel drive. Since you have all wheel drive the best option is to use chains an all four tires but since you are using one set part # PW1034 you will need to put them on the front wheels. I know which review you are referring to and they are calling the tire chains traction devices because they help with traction in the snow. They aren't referring to anything else besides the chains themselves.
