Question:
Im looking for a trunk rack for a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee that will accommodate a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp with a middle/rear shock. The shock configuration makes it hard to fine a top loader rack that will work. Will #TH65JV work with my vehicle? If I go with the #TH45JV + adapter bar #TH982XT, will it still lock the bike? Any recommendations are also appreciated - thanks

For your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Thule recommends the Passage 2 Bike Rack, # TH910XT. This trunk bike rack safely transports 2 bikes to your favorite spot. Securely mounts to the rear of your Jeep Grand Cherokee using the Fit Dial adjustment system and multiple straps. Anti-sway cradles hold bikes by the frame and reduce movement while driving.
If you will only be carrying your Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp, you would need an additional cable lock to lock to the bike rack due to the frame design. Something like the Master Lock Armored Cable Gun Lock, # 107KADSPT, would allow you the additional length needed to lock the bike to the rack utilizing the locking cable installed on the Raceway rack. The cable on the Raceway rack is only 7-3/4 inches long and would not be long enough to wrap around the bike frame and reach the slot that the end of the cable goes in, see attached photo.
If you will be carrying another bike that will allow the frame to sit on the cradle of the Raceway rack, you could put your Stumpjumper on the rack first and then lock the other bike, effectively locking both bikes to the rack.
The Raceway platform rack that you referred to is not listed as a fit for your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee according to Thule.
