Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2019 Ram 3500 with Short Bed to Tow Grand Design Solitude 310GK

Question:

I have a 2019 ram 3500 short bed, my trailer is a 2020 grand design solitude 310 GK what is the best hitch that I can use for this truck and trailer set up.

I'll start by saying that because you have a short bed truck, you will need a sliding hitch in order to make sure that you can safely turn while towing your 5th wheel trailer and not create contact between the nose of your trailer and the cab of your truck. You can also accomplish this by going with a Sidewinder style pin box like the Reese # RP34FR, but I typically only recommend those on truck beds shorter than 6-ft or 5th wheel trailers with extremely protruding noses.

If your 2019 Ram 3500 does not have the OEM Prep package with the pucks, I recommend the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W with the underbed installation rail kit # BWGNRK1320-5W to provide you with a clean truck bed when the hitch is not installed. If you wanted the above bed rails, you can use the B&W Patriot # BWRVK3270 and above bed rail kit # BWRVK2605. If you actually have the OEM puck package in your Ram 3500, you'll want to use the B&W Companion # BWRVK3670, which installs directly into the factory pucks and requires no installation kit.

On top of being the best solution for allowing you to carry other items in your truck bed without interference from above the bed rails, the B&W Companion is arguably the highest quality, most durable hitch on the market.
