Does the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series Tailgate # VG-97-4000 Have a Weight Capacity

with this tailgate installed and in the open position, how much weight is it rated for ? thanks

The Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series Tailgate, part # VG-97-4000, features a glass-filled, black composite plastic frame that is blow molded to create a lightweight yet strong-as-steel tailgate.

I spoke with my contact at Stromberg Carlson and they said that do not give the tailgate a weight rating because it is not designed to hold any large quantity of weight. They said in the open position, the tailgate will hold a small toolbox, but it is not designed to hold two or three adults at the same time. They do not recommend to open the tailgate and use with a ramp for loading of an ATV or UTV.

It is designed to give extra clearance when towing a fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer and to help reduce drag and improve visibility.
