Question:

What can you tell me about the curt spectrum brake controller vs. the redarc tow pro elite brake controller? I have a 2019 Audi Q5 but don't have any factory trailer wiring. Thanks so much.

On the surface, there is a lot of similarities between the Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller # C51170 and the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR, but the Redarc is truly the superior option in every way for your 2019 Audi Q5.

Since you don't have trailer wiring in your Audi you will need to add ZCI Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT and Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7, though the Spectrum also needs the Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers # C51515, while the Redarc has an adapter already included in the product.

The Tow-Pro Elite is designed to give you the most control possible over your trailer braking. The reason for this is it has a standard proportional mode - as does the Spectrum - but it also has a user-controlled mode which gives you complete and total control over your trailer braking power, which is something the Spectrum cannot offer.
