Question:
Is there a hitch option for the 2020 Subaru Ascent that does not require removing the impact structure/bumper I do not want to do that kind of work for a bike rack

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III hitch part # C13400 for the 2020 Subaru Ascent does not require removing the impact structure to install. The Curt hitch installation is much easier compared to the concealed cross tube options. It does require heat shield trimming and removing the spare tire shield because the hitch will replace the function of the spare tire shield.
Besides the heat shield and spare tire modifications it is as simple as lining up the holes and torquing down the bolts. The Curt Hitch will sit below the bumper instead of sticking through the knock out panel like the other options, I have attached a photo and an installation video for your reference.
