What Circuit Does Wireless Trailer Brake Controller Draw Power From

If my wires are spliced to my taillights would a wireless brake controller still work? Would it gain enough power to send a signal to the trailer brakes?

Expert Reply:
Wireless brake controllers like the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180 draw power through the 12 volt accessory circuit wire of the trailer wiring that connects to the positive post of the vehicle battery. The taillight circuits are not used for that at all.
The 12 volt pin on a 7-way is the pin in the 1:00 position like what you can see in the attached diagram.
