Hitch Lock Set Recommendation for Convert-A-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount CAB-UM

Updated 10/08/2019 | Published 10/07/2019

Question:

Id like to get a keyed-alike set of hitch pins and coupler lock but dont want them to be too long. I have a Subaru Ascent and the receiver hitch is nestled in the rear fascia a bit. What is the minimum length of hitch pin that can be used?

An excellent option for you is the Master Lock Hitch Receiver and Coupler Latch Lock Set # 2848DAT. This set includes two locking hitch pins with a 2-3/4 inch span (usable pin length) and an adjustable coupler latch lock to fit almost any size coupler, all keyed alike.

When measuring the Convert-A-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount # CAB-UM, I found that the outer portion of the shank is exactly 2.52 inches. This means that you'll have minimal (less than 1/4 inch) play between the shank and the lock like you wanted.

The stainless steel swivel head rotates 360 degrees which is a great feature to have when the hitch receiver is recessed under the fascia like on your Subaru Ascent.

I have attached a review video for you to check out below.
